Rituparna Sengupta yearning for big banners
Calcutta News.Net Saturday 13th January, 2007 (IANS)
The debacle of her recent release 'Unns' hasn't dampened the spirits of national award-winning Bengali actress Rituparna Sengupta. She is now eyeing big banners.
'I am longing to do big banner films. I'm trying my level best to improve myself and choose the right kind of films,' she said.
Talking about 'Unns', she said: 'Honestly, I was disappointed with the response. It dealt with sanctity of marriage and we all performed to the best of our ability. I really don't know what went wrong,' said Rituparna, who harbours a dream to make it big in Bollywood.
Nonetheless, she feels it was a learning experience and she is glad that her role was appreciated, reports Bollywood Trade.
'I'm happy that my portion was appreciated and I've realised the importance of a good script.'
Rituparna, who is a name to reckon with in the Bengali film industry, has bagged quite a few good Hindi films. She has just completed shooting for 'Gauri- The Unborn', a passionate love story with a mysterious element that gives out a strong message. Her co-stars are Anupam Kher and Atul Kulkarni.
Apart from that she has signed Kalpana Lajmi's untitled film, in which has Isha Koppikar will feature as a courtesan. Then her first English language flick 'Hidden' is about to take off. Manish Gupta's 'Saab Chai Pani' and Aniruddha Choudhury's 'Anuranon' is complete.
Not only that, she also has 'Sirf' with Kay Kay Menon, Manisha Koirala, Ranvir Shorey, Sonali Kulkarni and Parveen Dabbas and yet another film with Kay Kay to be directed by Anjan Dutt of 'Bong Connection'.
'House Arrest' with Shekhar Suman and 'Love Game' with Randeep Hooda might go on the floors soon. She may also do 'Neecha Aasman' opposite R. Madhavan.
Right now the Bengali actress is excited about the album 'Mere Man Mein Dhadkan Mein', a Rabindra Shraddhanjali, for which Amitabh Bachchan has lent his voice as a narrator.
This is first full-fledged Tagore song album in Hindi. Javed Akhtar has translated it and a video has already been shot on Ashmit Patel and Rituparna.
